Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

The Job

Our senior mechanical design engineer is in charge of the mechanical design an engineering of new products from idea and concept generation to prototyping, technical elaboration and production start-up. You will have a central role, managing all production-drawings and release procedures. 

Your Mission

The senior mechanical design engineer is in charge from initial design concepts to final manufacturing and quality control. The 3D designs should be flexible and adaptable through the use of parametic models, should carry clear design intent and should be organized in a way that it can easily maintained (Neat model tree). 

With your keen eye for detail, you’ll focus on identifying design risks (DFMEA), creating procurement lists (BOM) preparing detailed technical drawings for assembly and creation and maintenance of 3D models along with their associated specifications within a structured Product Data Management system.  

You’ll be the owner of workflows for release and management of (library) items and create and update an electronics library for mechanical components. 

You’ll be the go-to person at Septentrio when it comes to mechanical design, so you’ll work together closely with your colleagues from other departments and external partners, for example to organize improvements on the PDM. You’ll also create a design standard and release process for mechanical parts and assembly.    

Your Qualifications

You have a Master in Mechanical Engineering, or similar with proven experience in Solidworks, coupled with experience in Solidworks PDM, experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system is a plus.  

Your technical background equips you with proficiency in designing based on common production methods such as sheet metal forming, milling/turning, casting, and 3D printing. The ability to create clear and accurate 3D models is a fundamental requirement for your role. You are the ideal candidate if you have experience in Circuitworks and if you prefer an organized digital work environment.
